Pharrell Talks About His Tank Chairs

First off, I'd like to give a Happy Belated Birthday wish to Pharrell. Don't ask me how old he is though. Not a clue.
And now to the video. He talks about the new chairs that he's designed with Emmanuel Perrotin called "The Tank Chair" They're...interesting.... This isn't the first time he's designed some weird furniture, but tis time around these chairs seem to be less spooky. And although this may not be something that I would get hyped about, his vision is quite respected around these parts. Let's compare the two chairs shall we?

I'm...just...sayin'...

Cocky?! Exit. Stage. Left.

I fail to understand something here. Ladies (and Gentlemen) please riddle me this: Is there anything even remotely attractive about assholes? Seriously. I'd really like to know. Let me just jump right into the rant.

When I see a guy being an ass, somewhere in the back of my mind, pure hatred begins to blossom. When I was younger, I used to be attracted to some guys who were complete assholes. But the older I got, the more I saw (and continue to see) that these same men who were so full of "confidence" were nothing more than arrogant, lost and miserable little men looking for someone to overpower so that they can feel better about themselves. One would classify them as bullies, but chances are that if you stand up to them and tell them off one good time, they break way too easily. In fact, it is my personal belief that the bigger the asshole, the more you'll find large amounts of insecurities and shortcomings mixed and congealed together on the inside like pie filling. Maybe he's afraid of women? Maybe he's afraid that you'll walk all over him? Maybe he has a fear of abandonment/closeness? Maybe he has mommy issues? Maybe he has daddy issues? Whatever it is, he's using his ego to cover it up. He's not comfortable in his own skin, and can't exactly live up to the expectations of being considered a Grown Man, nor can he even began to grasp the concept of what it means to be one. Plain and simple. So instead of learning how to be one, he puffs out his little chest and dons a nasty attidude. He fancies himself a "Man" by treating others like shit and considers himself above everybody else. He begins to believe that everything he does and has done in the past will go unpunished. He is, of coarse, wrong, but he won't listen to anybody when they tell him this. He simply refuses to see himself for what he really is. So how is this type of male sexy? I simply fail to understand...
And apparently, so does he...
So therefore I say, I simply cannot stand assholes! And if I see one, I simply turn my head and keep it moving. I want nothing to do with them.

End Rant.

Forgiveness & Forward Motion

Back again with another musing. This time the subject is Forgiveness and progress.

It all started about a week ago. The big bro and I were sitting at the table at his girlfriend's grandparents house, listening to her and her family play dominos while we chit chat. The discussion came to fathers. My brother and I have different fathers, but we were raised by mine. He vented about his deep dislike for both men. I can understand why he was upset about his, seeing as dude abandoned my mother when she had my brother at the age of 15, and claimed that the baby wasn't his when everybody knew otherwise. And on a small scale, I can see why he didn't like my father either. My parents had a rocky marriage, and Dwayne (my dad) was a very strict man, and at times he wasn't exactly loving to Ma or us. But he kept food on the table, clothes on our backs, and a roof over our heads. And even if he wasn't all that nice, he gave extremely good advice, and never lead us astray or lied to us. We both agree that we our grateful for that. But it seems that my brother can't let the bad times go. I have, Ma has, but he's still as angry as ever. Yet he claims to have forgiven Dwayne. I had to give him a gentle reminder that he needs to in order for him to sleep at night. "I am sleeping at night!" he says, in the same tone one would use to defend themselves when they've been caught in a lie. Nidza, his girlfriend's mom, was on her laptop and listening to us, and we hear her say in her cute accent 'it doesn't sound like it to me!"

I couldn't help but laugh. Not only at that, but at the fact that I've realized that for the first time in my life, i feel free. Why? Because I've let a lot of the things, people, and situations that had bothered me so much in the past go. I've learned that you have to. And as i peel the layers and layers of resentment and anguish for people and past events off my spirit, I find that all of the negativity and all of the cruel comments that I'd though I'd brushed off were still there...and that they were all lies. i had to look at myself again and again, to make sure that what I was seeing was real. This new, clean me. Yes, I am not perfect. But I am a whole lot better than I'd ounce thought. And as I examined the lies that I accepted about me from others, I'd realized that dispite what I could do to these people, I had to forgive them no matter what. After doing so, I immediately noticed a change in my life, and blessings gushed forth as if held back by floodgates. My mind became clearer, and I became this happy, optimistic woman-child. I'm an adult of coarse, but I still have a long way to go. For the first time in my life, I'm excited about that journey into complete womanhood. That I would be like those dignified yet carefree and wise older women who seem to know everything about life and chuckle at the young girls/ladies and their clumsiness, guiding then in the right direction. I was excited when I realized that I had completely suffered and overcome my first major heartbreak. I was excited about the fact that I'm actually looking forward to having kids. Whereas before I just thought that babies were cute, but not for me. I'm excited about the fact there will be more struggles and victories coming my way, and that the only way to go is up. I bid you all to feel that same excitement by letting go of the past. We all have issues about ourselves or our lives that we need to deal with. But we can't just keep that baggage and expect to catch the bus on time you get my drift(shoutout to Erykah Badu and her song "Bag Lady"). We have to declutter our lives in order to let the new things come in. Kind of like that show called "Clean House" where they go in, clean out the family's house and get rid of all the old stuff via yardsale and the charity bus, and the profits from the yardsale are used to redecorate the entire house (or however much they can with the money). The same logic applies to your life. However much you're willing to give away, that's how much you'll get back in new opportunities. And thus, growth. Think about that while I soak my feet...

D.O.S (Death Of Swagg, and your cousins....)

This shite right here is the reason why the word ''Swagg'' is no longer in my everyday vocabulary. If you ain't talkin' about a valance or a curtain, then I refuse to listen. Who the hell let Vonquasha 'nem  in the studio anyways? I swear...

My own inner hoodrat has more class than this. If you've enjoyed this musical selection, then please turn off your computer. You are no longer allowed to use the internet. Now go to bed! Shit!

Well...Really Pharrell, I Just Can't.....

So last month on my new blog called Shoe Lust: An Unhealthy Craving For Soles , I did a post about the Christian Louboutins studded mens sneakers with the $1200 price tag. When I saw those I said "Hey, those are kinda cute...", when I saw the price tag I said "Not for that price!!" and said so in the post. Now this pic of Pharrell has shown up on the net of his wearing the same shoes. Have a look...

I still say no. Not for that price, and I will not be swayed otherwise. That is all.

Dignity On A Leave Of Absence

Yes, I admit it! My guilty pleasure as of late has been female vs. female fuckery.

I'm talking from the slick, sideways, nasty, or just downright vicious comments left on myspace/facebook/twitter, right down to the "B.O.B (bombs over Baghdad)" cat fights. The rate of women (and even some men) young and old putting there dignities on hold and stepping down from their thrones to go "handle a bitch" is growing everyday. You see it online at your favorite social networking site, on the street, in the stores or malls, on tv, at somebody's house down across the street, in schools, even in the church. Women everywhere are saying "oh hell naw, this bitch..." , taking off their earrings and getting ready to BANG!

All for what you ask?

Over a MAN!

Now although this isn't exactly new to any of us, it  has become a growing  problem. I haven't really noticed it until recently. I was online, cruising the scene and checking up on friends, when I saw something that tickled me to death! As I was looking through on of my male friends page and being nosey I checked out the comments part. This chick was going in on another female with the classic "step up off my man" speech. Now, putting aside the misspelled words and severe lack of punctuation (which was the really funny part. I was like "please don't tell me she got past grade school with this shit? I fail to understand!) I thought to myself, "Is it even all that Shakespearean?" And that's when my eyes opened and I saw it; Women everywhere doing the same shit, on a much grander scale. I even went to World Star Hip Hop to see some of the cat fights. And while it was all quite entertaining, it got me to thinking: Why?
My Mama always said one thing in various ways: "I am not gonna stress over one piece of man". And you know what, she's right! I know love can make you do some crazy things, but seriously? All the bitching and fighting over the same dude who is probably working on chick number three while y'all are busy snatching each other's hair out and beating each other to a bloody pulp. The only one who really wins is him. If you must beat on somebody, beat him! If you have to cuss somebody out, cuss him out! If you feel the need to go in at every female that says hi to your man, then maybe you need to look at yourself and the relationship, because there is obviously a trust/security issue going on there. If your man cheated, let him go or work it out. If you're with a guy who has an ex openly pining for him, then LET THEM! Yeah, I said it. Let Them Pine Away! The way I see it, as long as your man or the other woman don't truly cross the line, then the relationship should not be shaken by yours or her jealousy. If you're the piner, then maybe it's time to let go. And to both parties: if you've found him, you can find another one. Men are definitely NOT on the endangered species list baby, there's enough for everybody. I don't care if he has money, gives that good pipe, drives a nice car, pays the bills, has a good job, or a job period! It just even worth it to throw your dignity and self respect to the side just to "handle that bitch".

Ladies, we gotta do better, for ourselves and for each other. Be the bigger person. Step away from the situation or handle it like adults. Didn't we leave all that bickering and arguing in the school yards, cafeteria's and hallways in high school? I'm just sayin'. Just remember that the younger generation are watching us. Is this the example we want to set for them?

Here We Go Again...pt. 2

REALLY?!
You know what, I can't stand people sometimes. You try to shed some light on a very old and important issue, and there's always that one group who are simply too stubborn to realize that a change is needed. The point of this movie is to shed light on an old subject that has plagued African-American women since the time of slavery: The Good Hair Issue. the fact that this issue is still affecting us today is senseless to say the least. We as black women judge each other hard enough as it is based on the stuff thats on top of our heads.
And this chick is worried about the following
1.She's worried about other races laughing at us.
2.She's worried about the fact that our "secrets" about our hair will be revealed.
3.She's worried that it will make us look bad.
4.She's scared of more people coming up to us and saying "Your hair looks really nice. Is that a weave?"

So as a fellow black woman myself, let me just say that she NEEDS TO GET A FIRM GRIP ON REALITY A.S.A.P!
Here's why:
1. You're worried about the wrong thing if your worried about other races laughing at us about our hair. They've always have, along with other stereotypes that plague black women as a whole. You know the image: The "finger snapping 'n waving-head 'n neck rolling- big booty-bad attitude- fried chicken, cornbread, neckbones and collard greens cooking-can't keep a man-welfare check waitin'-shake what yo mama gave ya/drop it like it's hot dancing- 5 kids from 4 baby daddies- sexually deviant- Miss Thang/bitch/shorty/skeeza/gold digga/chicken head/hoodrat/bust it baby/hoe" image? Yeah, that one. I know I'm refreshing somebody's memory around here. We have our stereotypes like every other race. And we are striving, just like everybody else, to overcome. Please be concerned about the cause ma'am. We've come a long way, but we're still struggling with these issues and a ton more. stay focused dammit!

2. What "secrets"? Anybody who's curious to learn about our hair and the way we take care of it only has to do one of three things:
     A. Go to a black hair store.
     B. Ask their black friend.
     C. Both
3. See 1.
4. They do it anyway! And you shouldn't really care about if they're trying to insult you or not. The best way to handle that situation is to answer the question as mentioned in step 2 and go one about your business. Problem. Solved. Geez!

Sigh....

One day we shall overcome this issue as well. And black women all over the country will walk around with their heads held high, l no matter what it looks like! Until then, as this video shows, we still have a long ways to go.

Hotel Lobby Nightmare

Hide The Children! STAT! Do it NOW!
See What happens when your cousin's get a little double d's (dough & dope) and a little bit of fame? They try to crash wedding parties, pick up random women, and talk about eating ass and poppin' pills in their own ass. Smh.
I'm officially scared of hotel lobbies now. Thank's Pretty Ricky! :(

Here We Go Again: The D-Snitch on GMA

...and this is how I feel about this book and the ENTIRE subject...
Peep the "whatever" face.
Do as I say not as I do?
How about I just skip out on both parts. I'm just sayin'...
Hip Hop's favorite dick-snitch is back at it again. Karrine Steffans has yet another book out, and this time she's giving out relationship advice. I'm still mad that she screwed the dude who played Carl Winslow's son in Family Matters, but I digress. Still, as much as we roll our eyes and suck our teeth, she is making money off of whorish men. And she'll continue to do so as long as people make a big deal out of it. It's just like the prostitute or drug dealer on the block: what they do isn't right, but they're not trying to hide their occupation nor are they ashamed of it. Yet as long as we glorify it and actually keep paying for their services, the two will keep on serving. I'm just sayin'

On a side note though, peep the looks they giving between 1:25 and 1:35. They give my "whatever" look both breath and substance.
