We need to get our priorities straight as a country. I'm sorry. It feels as if we're focusing on the wrong things because we don't want to face the bigger issues. So when the bigger issues get too big to ignore, we have the nerve to act shocked. No. You (America) knew this was there all along. Let me explain a few issues here...

Just heard this song for the first time last night in the sacuary of my aunt's car. Or at least I thought it was a sancuary. Out of pure curiousity, I asked her to play this song. She laughed and told me to find it on her iPod. Though I was momentarily distracted by songs of hers titled "Your Divorce Has Been Denied" and "A Woman Knows How To Please Herself" (yes, it is about what you think it's about.), I finally found what I was looking for. My thoughts on the song?
....
WILD!
I haven't felt that special mix of feeling devastated and laughing uncontrollably since I heard that damn "Candy Licker" song when I was a teenager. Is THIS what our folks were listening to back in the day, pre- R. Kelly? The subject itself isn't brand new to us, but still....it is kind of shocking to find out that the same people who told us to slow down and not be so loose etc. were the ones listening to this. It makes you wonder...what else did they do back then?
Nevermind, I don't wanna know.
Enjoy folks. And remember ladies, make sure you AND your man knows exactly what he wants. Smh.

Yesterday I saw a video that disturbed me in the oddest of ways. It was a clip from the Wendy Williams Show from her interview with Stacy Dash. Now Stacy Dash is obviously a very beautiful woman, so we would naturally think that she'd have no real issues with her self worth and all. But when she started talking about how she'd never been single since the age of 17 and that she needed a man to define her and to tell her that she was beautiful so that she'd believe it, it shocked the hell out of me. And it got me to thinking. Now she's in her 40's and she's finally starting to love herself and see the light. How long will it take women younger than that to come to that same epiphany?
Lately I've been hearing the same thing over and over. "You need a man." or "You need to get you some", blah blah blah. And time and again I simply shake my head. No, you shouldn't need anything or anyone on that level. You should want it. Never confuse wants and needs, especially where people are concerned. The only human being that you should absolutely want and need, without question, is yourself. Loving and appreciating yourself, taking time to discover and enjoy you, and knowing your self worth are the first steps to having and enjoying healthy relationships with others. It's perfectly okay to be by yourself every once in a while to work on you. When you know your self worth you'll see where you stand with others in your life.
Now if you sit down and do a self evaluation, and notice that your significant other does not hold you in high esteem as you hold yourself or them, then you should address the issue immediately. Tell them that you want to be treated better, that your position should be much higher than what it currently is in their considerations. After all, do you not do the same thing for them all day every day without fail? If they choose to work on that part of the relationship then you should stick it out with them. If they refuse to do so, then they're showing you exactly what time it is. It's perfectly okay to let go if they don't have your best interest in heart. Show others how to love you better by loving yourself better. You will only be given as much love as you give yourself. And if that means that you have to break away from them in order to work on loving you, then so be it. By practicing self love we reclaim ourselves. So many women choose to wrap ourselves and our lives around others. So much so to the point where they lose their sense of self over time. They feel like they simply cannot exist without the other. They feel like they simply will not be whole without the other. But I believe that when you walked into the relationship, you were whole. And when you leave it, you should still be whole. So if you have to take a break to rebuild yourself, to make yourself "whole", then that's fine. In time you'll learn to love that whole that is you.
You are you, and you should love every piece of you. How do you expect others to do so if you don't do it yourself?

I fail to understand something here. Ladies (and Gentlemen) please riddle me this: Is there anything even remotely attractive about assholes? Seriously. I'd really like to know. Let me just jump right into the rant.
When I see a guy being an ass, somewhere in the back of my mind, pure hatred begins to blossom. When I was younger, I used to be attracted to some guys who were complete assholes. But the older I got, the more I saw (and continue to see) that these same men who were so full of "confidence" were nothing more than arrogant, lost and miserable little men looking for someone to overpower so that they can feel better about themselves. One would classify them as bullies, but chances are that if you stand up to them and tell them off one good time, they break way too easily. In fact, it is my personal belief that the bigger the asshole, the more you'll find large amounts of insecurities and shortcomings mixed and congealed together on the inside like pie filling. Maybe he's afraid of women? Maybe he's afraid that you'll walk all over him? Maybe he has a fear of abandonment/closeness? Maybe he has mommy issues? Maybe he has daddy issues? Whatever it is, he's using his ego to cover it up. He's not comfortable in his own skin, and can't exactly live up to the expectations of being considered a Grown Man, nor can he even began to grasp the concept of what it means to be one. Plain and simple. So instead of learning how to be one, he puffs out his little chest and dons a nasty attidude. He fancies himself a "Man" by treating others like shit and considers himself above everybody else. He begins to believe that everything he does and has done in the past will go unpunished. He is, of coarse, wrong, but he won't listen to anybody when they tell him this. He simply refuses to see himself for what he really is. So how is this type of male sexy? I simply fail to understand...
And apparently, so does he...
So therefore I say, I simply cannot stand assholes! And if I see one, I simply turn my head and keep it moving. I want nothing to do with them.
End Rant.

Back again with another musing. This time the subject is Forgiveness and progress.
It all started about a week ago. The big bro and I were sitting at the table at his girlfriend's grandparents house, listening to her and her family play dominos while we chit chat. The discussion came to fathers. My brother and I have different fathers, but we were raised by mine. He vented about his deep dislike for both men. I can understand why he was upset about his, seeing as dude abandoned my mother when she had my brother at the age of 15, and claimed that the baby wasn't his when everybody knew otherwise. And on a small scale, I can see why he didn't like my father either. My parents had a rocky marriage, and Dwayne (my dad) was a very strict man, and at times he wasn't exactly loving to Ma or us. But he kept food on the table, clothes on our backs, and a roof over our heads. And even if he wasn't all that nice, he gave extremely good advice, and never lead us astray or lied to us. We both agree that we our grateful for that. But it seems that my brother can't let the bad times go. I have, Ma has, but he's still as angry as ever. Yet he claims to have forgiven Dwayne. I had to give him a gentle reminder that he needs to in order for him to sleep at night. "I am sleeping at night!" he says, in the same tone one would use to defend themselves when they've been caught in a lie. Nidza, his girlfriend's mom, was on her laptop and listening to us, and we hear her say in her cute accent 'it doesn't sound like it to me!"
I couldn't help but laugh. Not only at that, but at the fact that I've realized that for the first time in my life, i feel free. Why? Because I've let a lot of the things, people, and situations that had bothered me so much in the past go. I've learned that you have to. And as i peel the layers and layers of resentment and anguish for people and past events off my spirit, I find that all of the negativity and all of the cruel comments that I'd though I'd brushed off were still there...and that they were all lies. i had to look at myself again and again, to make sure that what I was seeing was real. This new, clean me. Yes, I am not perfect. But I am a whole lot better than I'd ounce thought. And as I examined the lies that I accepted about me from others, I'd realized that dispite what I could do to these people, I had to forgive them no matter what. After doing so, I immediately noticed a change in my life, and blessings gushed forth as if held back by floodgates. My mind became clearer, and I became this happy, optimistic woman-child. I'm an adult of coarse, but I still have a long way to go. For the first time in my life, I'm excited about that journey into complete womanhood. That I would be like those dignified yet carefree and wise older women who seem to know everything about life and chuckle at the young girls/ladies and their clumsiness, guiding then in the right direction. I was excited when I realized that I had completely suffered and overcome my first major heartbreak. I was excited about the fact that I'm actually looking forward to having kids. Whereas before I just thought that babies were cute, but not for me. I'm excited about the fact there will be more struggles and victories coming my way, and that the only way to go is up. I bid you all to feel that same excitement by letting go of the past. We all have issues about ourselves or our lives that we need to deal with. But we can't just keep that baggage and expect to catch the bus on time you get my drift(shoutout to Erykah Badu and her song "Bag Lady"). We have to declutter our lives in order to let the new things come in. Kind of like that show called "Clean House" where they go in, clean out the family's house and get rid of all the old stuff via yardsale and the charity bus, and the profits from the yardsale are used to redecorate the entire house (or however much they can with the money). The same logic applies to your life. However much you're willing to give away, that's how much you'll get back in new opportunities. And thus, growth. Think about that while I soak my feet...

Goodness, I haven't done anything like this in a loooong time!! Let me dust myself off and try to get back in the groove of things with my rhythm-deficient self.
I had to jump on this piece today because of something that was sitting on my spirit and poking it with a toothpick. The subject is simple, yet it is the most complex thing in the world. The subject is Love.
Yes, that four letter word that you either embrace wholeheartedly or draw back from in unearthly disgust. I've been seeing all types of different levels of love and attraction all over the place ever since the new year started. From a close family member talking to me about her newfound romance with a younger guy who's quite simply swept her off her feet, to talking to her sister about her ongoing affectionate feelings for a friend of hers from high school. From reading 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible, to engagements/marriages, to hearing tales about broken hearts and individuals who are fed up with their partners and moving on. Love, even in the brokenhearted, is all around us. It exist. It's something that gets ahold of each and every one of us at some point in our lives. Some search for it relentlessly. They leave the house thinking to themselves "Who knows? Today just might be the day..." and keep their hearts open and hope high. Some look for it in the wrong places, grow tired of it, and become strict non-believers. Some don't really think about it until kicks them in the chest, and they realize what they've ignored for so long. The list goes on, but one thing's for certain: Love, like shit, happens.
The question then becomes "What will you do when it hits you?" How would you react? To love takes strength and courage. To love someone, even if it's yourself, is to me a testament to your own strength. It puts you through all types of test. Things that you said you'd never do one moment tend to be the very thing you end up doing the next. All in the name of love and devotion. We accept things in ourselves and in or significant others that we normally don't accept in others. We put up with truckloads of shite, all in the name of. And we endure some of the worst pain in our lives when it's dealt by a loved one. And in the end of love, the hardest part is letting go of it. But in the long lesson of love we learn something; Love starts and ends with you. With your acknowledgment, it's allowed to blossom and grow. And with your resignation, it ceases to exist. In the end, we take our lessons and move on about our business. Now to me, all of that takes a considerable amount of strength the go through. I'm just sayin'. Chew on that random musing for a little bit while I paint my nails...

Shit's getting real y'all. We need to be concerned now more than ever!
Basically George Soros is saying that China needs to be apart of the New World Order, the U.S economy will be destroyed, and we'd have no choice but to submit. I urge you to watch this. Of all the stupid videos that I post and that we watch on the net, this is one of the more important ones. We need to be concerned!

I would say that this is unbelievable, but then again it isn't.
The first question is instinctive: who do we blame? The teens? The parents? The school system? The system? There are so many places to point fingers at, and a person only has ten.
But then again, a more important question comes to mind: what can we do about the entire situation? Because from what I'm seeing, if the amount of teen pregnancy is that high in that school, then think about the number of kids who probably have STD's. Now think about the fact that this just one school, and there are tons of schools out there all over the country going through the same thing. God bless and help those girls. Smh.
Something has to be done.

Yes, I admit it! My guilty pleasure as of late has been female vs. female fuckery.
I'm talking from the slick, sideways, nasty, or just downright vicious comments left on myspace/facebook/twitter, right down to the "B.O.B (bombs over Baghdad)" cat fights. The rate of women (and even some men) young and old putting there dignities on hold and stepping down from their thrones to go "handle a bitch" is growing everyday. You see it online at your favorite social networking site, on the street, in the stores or malls, on tv, at somebody's house down across the street, in schools, even in the church. Women everywhere are saying "oh hell naw, this bitch..." , taking off their earrings and getting ready to BANG!
All for what you ask?
Over a MAN!
Now although this isn't exactly new to any of us, it has become a growing problem. I haven't really noticed it until recently. I was online, cruising the scene and checking up on friends, when I saw something that tickled me to death! As I was looking through on of my male friends page and being nosey I checked out the comments part. This chick was going in on another female with the classic "step up off my man" speech. Now, putting aside the misspelled words and severe lack of punctuation (which was the really funny part. I was like "please don't tell me she got past grade school with this shit? I fail to understand!) I thought to myself, "Is it even all that Shakespearean?" And that's when my eyes opened and I saw it; Women everywhere doing the same shit, on a much grander scale. I even went to World Star Hip Hop to see some of the cat fights. And while it was all quite entertaining, it got me to thinking: Why?
My Mama always said one thing in various ways: "I am not gonna stress over one piece of man". And you know what, she's right! I know love can make you do some crazy things, but seriously? All the bitching and fighting over the same dude who is probably working on chick number three while y'all are busy snatching each other's hair out and beating each other to a bloody pulp. The only one who really wins is him. If you must beat on somebody, beat him! If you have to cuss somebody out, cuss him out! If you feel the need to go in at every female that says hi to your man, then maybe you need to look at yourself and the relationship, because there is obviously a trust/security issue going on there. If your man cheated, let him go or work it out. If you're with a guy who has an ex openly pining for him, then LET THEM! Yeah, I said it. Let Them Pine Away! The way I see it, as long as your man or the other woman don't truly cross the line, then the relationship should not be shaken by yours or her jealousy. If you're the piner, then maybe it's time to let go. And to both parties: if you've found him, you can find another one. Men are definitely NOT on the endangered species list baby, there's enough for everybody. I don't care if he has money, gives that good pipe, drives a nice car, pays the bills, has a good job, or a job period! It just even worth it to throw your dignity and self respect to the side just to "handle that bitch".
Ladies, we gotta do better, for ourselves and for each other. Be the bigger person. Step away from the situation or handle it like adults. Didn't we leave all that bickering and arguing in the school yards, cafeteria's and hallways in high school? I'm just sayin'. Just remember that the younger generation are watching us. Is this the example we want to set for them?

Is this the example we want to set for them?

.....and my heart dances a two-step of dee-light!
Geisha, Queen of the Quick Weave (bow down bitches!) is officially on Twitter! And before you ask, yes I do follow her! And I am anxiously waiting for another quick weave tutorial.
If you've not experiance the greatness that is, then I suggest you watch the following video and get ready to receive some essence.
A Little Sprinkle Of Essence...
Sprinkle a bit of this into your wake-up cup gentlemen.
This morning I'm introducing to the wonder that is Drama Dupree. His "Tweet This" videos are what we all need in our lives. They're short, sweet, and get straight to the meat of the issue (unlike this post) Today he talks about new condoms and bad sex.
Good Morning! :)
Enjoy!

DARK HATER SPEAKS THE TRUTH!!!!!
Again, I heart Haterazzi! Not only is this vid hella funny, but dude is spittin' mad truth! Substance abuse isn't a mental disorder. At all. It can be triggered by a mental disorder, it my even cause one, but it is NOT a mental disorder. And although I would love to see these people get help and slay their demons, the truth still remains. So you can't make up any excuses for them. You either be part of the problem or the solution, but in the end, they have to want change for themselves.
And he's also right about something else. How many of us are willing to help that crackhead who broke into our homes or cars? Very, very few. If anything you'll be quick to call the law and scream "I don't pay my taxes for nothing! I want justice!"
I'm just sayin' tho...

This is the type of shit that I live for. Enlightenment!
I know what you're thinking,"LAWD! Another Pharrell related post?", and the answer is no, that's NOT why I'm posting this. The reason is quite clear: truth.
What do we know about Africa besides what we see on tv or what we read in the papers? Not much. And Nas brought up a very good point about how some Africans really don't like African-Americans. They're not the only ones either. I'm not trying to step on any cultural fingers, but the internal racism within the black community as a whole is completely and utterly stupid. I once had a neighbor who had a Haitian friend visiting her, and while chatting it up with my mother and I, she told us that the main reason why they (Haitians) really don't like us is because we're lazy. WTF?! I admit, we have our own batch of ignorant cousins, but who doesn't? And one day in recent history I was on the phone with one of my aunts, and she brought up the fact that every other race helps each other out EXCEPT blacks. Think about it. We're so worried about the fact that the next black man/woman is doing a little better then us that we either try to bring them down or don't help them out when they're in need. Again:WTF?! Fear+ Crab In A Bucket= Failure & Defeat. We all came from the same damn continent, we just got dropped off at different places. Nobody's better than or less than. The lack of knowledge, understanding, acceptance, and love will be not only our downfall, but the downfall of humanity itself. Think about it.

saw this over at EbenGregory's piece and was like "No she isn't! In the club too? No way"
then I pressed play.
The part that pisses me off is the fact that the two clowns in the back got they're phones out like this is some once in a lifetime shit. Now if that was their daughter doing some shit like that in the club and thinking it was cool and sexy, would these men still be alright with that? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! And ladies? Have our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmother and all made great strides and sacrifices in their lives for us to grow up and do this? Is this what we're telling the kids it's okay to do when they see this? Is this what we want our kids to see us do? Is this what we want them to do when they grow up? There are a lot of questions that come up when I see stuff like this. I'm not a prude. There's nothing wrong with being sexy. And if you can do it in the bedroom, more power to you. But ladies, when you put yourself out there like that, with no respect for yourself, think about who's watching. Think about what they might be seeing or thinking.
In the words of EbenGregory; We gotta do better! I can't believe this. This really has me upset.

My take on the Chris Brown Apology Vid & The Real Chris Brown Apology brought to you by Kid Fury!
By now we've all seen the Chris Brown apology video on various websites. And although everyone has felt the need to once again throw their $0.02 in about it, I'm gonna throw mine in the bucket as well. I believe that the entire situation was what it was: sad. It took two famous kids to bring the subject of domestic violence to the forefront, and that to me is a damn shame. I know plenty of domestic violence victims(family and friends alike), and do you see them on Oprah? Do the have whole segments about their stories? No. But on the other hand, we need to let Chris Brown alone and let him move on with his career and life and stop judging him. We are not God. Period. And for those people who simply can't forgive him, a piece of advice: GET A LIFE. Do you realize how many victims get an actual apology? Very few. Even if he was reading off of something, he said he was sorry. And if you simply cannot except that, then what will you except hmm? What makes you so great that you can't except human behavior from a fellow human (because in case you haven't noticed, you ARE human)? Again I state: We Are Not God.
Now on a lighter note, here's Kid Fury's take on the video. Enjoy!

You are a hoe and you don't know.....
Beatty Wright sung the truth in that song. If you don't know it, get familiar.
Kid Fury's new PSA is that special message that some of y'all need to hear at this critical point in your lives.
That includes you.
Get a tablespoon of this and sprinkle it in your coffee.
The best part of waking up is Kid Fury in your cup hoe!
